Llanelli RFC will get their Principality Premiership campaign underway this Saturday, against the reigning champions, at Parc y Scarlets in what will be an historic game in world rugby.

The Principality Premiership opener will be the first game of the 2015-16 season and will launch an experimental scoring system that awards six points for a try and two points for all kicks.

Both Llanelli and Pontypridd will be vying for the opportunity to be the first team in history to record a six-point try in the game that kicks off at 12 noon at Parc y Scarlets.

Llanelli RFC Head of Rugby Kevin George said: “The introduction of the new points system is very exciting. We’re excited to be a part of it and it will be a great opportunity for one of the two teams to score the first ever six point try in world rugby.

“With the introduction of the two point penalty we will hopefully see the game develop and give more significance to a try.

“We believe it is a positive move and will lead to a more expansive approach to the game by all parties.”

The newly refurbished Heart & Soul Bar will be open from 10.30am Saturday and will remain open after Llanelli v Pontypridd game to show Glasgow v Scarlets on the big screen, kick off 5.15pm.
