The Ironman Wales triathlon, perhaps the most gruelling endurance race in the world, will be held in and around Tenby on Sunday, 13thSeptember.
The spectacular event is set to attract more than 2,000 competitors from all over the world – including many entrants from Pembrokeshire – and in excess of 10,000 spectators.
The race starts at 7am on North Beach with a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride around the stunning South Pembrokeshire countryside, ending with a marathon. The finishing line is on the Esplanade overlooking the South Beach.
The fastest athletes will complete the course in about nine hours, with slower athletes crossing the finish line by around midnight.
To ensure the safety of competitors and spectators, Pembrokeshire County Council has again authorised a number of road closures, restrictions and diversions for the day.

Also on the website is a list of available car parks in Tenby, Pembroke and Narberth open on Saturday and Sunday, plus some extra parking sites.
There will also be an Ironman Wales Park & Ride service from Carew Airfield to Tenby between 5am and midnight on Sunday, linking to Saundersfoot while the bike course is live on that section. Charges apply – please view the website details above.
The race weekend also sees the return of the popular IRONKIDS on Saturday (12th September) for children between the ages of three and 14.
Cllr Rob Lewis, Cabinet Member for Transportation and Major Events, said Ironman Wales has become a truly iconic event, with thousands of spectators lining the route every year to cheer on the participants.
“The competitors often say that Pembrokeshire crowds are among the best in the world!” he said.
“It is also a fantastic opportunity to put Pembrokeshire on the map – coverage of the event is distributed to broadcasters in over 20 countries and has millions of viewers worldwide.”
