YOU have the chance to make sure a Swansea park is named Britain’s favourite.
Voting is now open for the People’s Choice award that will see one of the UK’s Green Flag winning parks scooping the honour.
Six Swansea parks are in the running: Clyne Gardens, Singleton Botanical Gardens, Victoria Park, Brynmill Park, Cwmdonkin Park and Parc Llewelyn.
Online voting is open until September 30.
Cllr Mark Child, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Healthy City and Wellbeing, said: “Green Flag awards are important because they show that a park is well-kept and offers people a positive visiting experience. Our parks staff do a terrific job in maintaining their beauty and giving residents and visitors top quality green spaces where they can go for relaxation and recreation.
“Swansea is already well-known as a city that enjoys stunning scenery, but one of our parks being named the UK’s favourite will further strengthen that reputation.
“I’d urge the people of Swansea to get behind our Green Flag parks and submit their votes this month to help ensure our city gets an accolade it so richly deserves.”
Visit www.greenflagaward.org to vote. All you’ve got to do is select your country and region on the interactive map, find your favourite park or green space and click the ‘vote for this site’ button. The winner will be announced on October 16.
The Green Flag Award was first launched in 1996 to recognise and reward the UK’s best green spaces. All Green Flag Award winning parks and green spaces are entered into the annual People’s Choice Award vote, which last year saw thousands of votes recorded.
