MORE and more people are discovering Carmarthenshire âWeather itâs hot or weather itâs not.â
The highest ever traffic to Discover Carmarthenshire website was achieved last month in August with 38,352 visitors which was nearly 5,000 more than in July which was itself a record since sessions to the website were first recorded in 2012.
County executive board member for Regeneration, Leisure and Tourism Meryl Gravell said: âIt is so important we keep abreast of changing habits for accessing information and this goes to show how in the past when we relied on advertising alone how these days people are becoming more adroit at seeking out information for themselves.
âAugust, as you would expect, was a high visitor month for our website. Social media links were also up from last month.
âInterestingly mobile visits are now exceeding desktop traffic by a wide margin. Of the 38,352 visits in August, 25, 574 were on mobile devices – tablet and âphone.â
Cllr Gravell said the most popular pages were parks and whatâs on with more than 10,000 hits on each of them reflecting a 12per cent increase.
Pembrey Country Park and camping attracted nearly 6,000 visits and the countyâs beaches more than 3,500.
âNot surprisingly,â said Mrs Gravell, âThere were a lot of traffic to wet weather attractions within the county too with Play King at Dafen and Xcel Bowl, Carmarthen, doing well showing that the county has all weather attractions.â
