This week the streets of Neath Town Centre will be bustling with stalls attracting thousands of visitors to the town.
The Council’s Trading Standards Team will be out and about ensuring visitors to the Fair can buy goods with confidence.
The Team is responsible for enforcing consumer laws to encourage safe and honest trading. The Team works to protect the interests of consumers and businesses in Neath Port Talbot and ensuring products purchased at the Fair are legitimate and safe is a main priority for the team this week.
As well as carrying out checks on the goods being sold, the team will be giving advice and guidance to market traders to make sure they keep within the law. Consumers can also carry out their own checks by looking out for obvious tell-tale signs such as misspelled words on packaging, no UK name and address and / or CE mark on toys, and big high street brand names being sold very cheaply.
Councillor Ali Thomas OBE, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council said, “We hope everyone has a great time at the popular Fair and Street market this week. Our Trading Standards team will be doing everything they can to make sure that people can feel safe and assured about the goods that are available at the Fair.”
