Broad Haven CP School is to hold an Open Day later this month to celebrate its recent extension and refurbishment.
Over £2.2 million has been spent on the school by both the Welsh Government and Pembrokeshire County Council under the 21stCentury Schools programme.
It is the first school in Pembrokeshire to benefit under the Welsh Government scheme which will see £150 million invested in the County’s secondary and primary schools over the next few years.
The Open Day will be held between 2 pm and 4 pm on Saturday, 26th September.
Acting headteacher, Gareth Lewis, said the event would show just how much the school has been transformed since it was originally built in 1963.
He explained: “The Open Day will enable the people of Broad Haven to see their new school, and enable past pupils and staff to see how much it has changed.
“Many local people have very kindly lent photos and artefacts from days gone by, so that the improvements and changes are apparent to all. Everyone is welcome.
“Pupils will be involved in showing people around their classes, and will demonstrate a range of activities to the visitors, while The Friends of Broad Haven School will provide refreshments. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic to have on the school field.”
The new extension at the rear of the existing building includes new classrooms, a nursery and a new hall with a state of the art kitchen.
An official opening will be held later.
