2015 marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, a landmark in the history of children’s literature and one of the strangest and most enduring stories ever written.
On publication in 1865 the book was an immediate success. Since publication, Alice’s adventures have continued through innumerable stage adaptations, cartoons, films and in various other incarnations – including on postage stamps.
It is fitting that in its 150th anniversary year it is celebrated with a wonderful popup event that is focused on families as part of Llanelli’s support your high street campaign The event takes place from outside Llanelli House trailing through the town centre September 26th 11am – 4.30pm.
Come dressed as your favourite wonderland character, meet some colourful characters, enjoy a culinary adventure in our mad hatter tea party!
Join the arts & crafts creative station, enter our competitions while we raise funds for Hannah Meredith Foundation & Macmillan.
Parent & child best wonderland character competition! Prize has been donated by the Y Ffwrnes.
Parents & children come dressed as any wonderland character, arrive at Llanelli Library at 11am for story time, the storyteller will then send you on Alice Adventures in Wonderland trail around the town where you will collect clues along the way from colourful characters.
Calling artists of all ages! Design & create a ‘mad hat’ and bring it along to our story time kicking things off in Llanelli Library. Goodie bag will be given to the best, most unusual, and fiercest headwear
Adults Alice’s Bake Off competition, arrive with your cake between 11am – 12 noon, judging will commence at 3pm. Llanelli Boots will present winner with a lovely goodie bag. Children that enter will receive an age appropriate goodie bag from one of Llanelli’s high street stores.
This event is brought to you by Vintage Falls Popup Events it’s ideal for young children and the big kid in you who want to enjoy our take on Wonderland.
Dress the part and join us in the town centre for a day you won’t forget! We have a variety of market stalls, arts & crafts, storytelling, Alice adventure trail, Bluebell with her flamingos, mad hatters tea party, face painting, music, games & lot’s more.
You and your family will be able to enjoy an array of delicious cakes and treats whilst dining with a couple of colourful characters.
