Brands vs Bargains is a new Carmarthenshire Communities First initiative for 2015/2016 which challenges community members to a taste test between branded products and money saving cheaper alternatives from a variety of supermarkets.
Ten Brands vs Bargains workshops have been delivered across Carmarthenshire in community venues and at community engagement events with 237 people having taken part to date.
Staff and volunteers also provide participants with information on money saving websites and apps, budgeting information and additional support available through the Communities First Team.
Executive board member for regeneration Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “People enjoy taking part in the challenge and are often surprised to find out how much money they can save. This is an excellent way to help people make their money go further in difficult economic times.”
