Carmarthenshire County Councilâs environmental health team is taking action to catch a fly-tipper who is blighting a Seaside community.
Residents of Glanmor Terrace have asked the council to help identify the person responsible for continually dumping black bags and waste against the rear boundary wall of a privately rented home.
The nuisance has been a problem for the tenants and their neighbours for some time, so Cllr Jim Jones, Executive Board Member for Public Protection, visited the area with environmental health officers to see the problem first-hand.
CCTV cameras have now been installed to record activity in the area, but the fly-tippers are being given early warning that their actions are being filmed â a large sign has been placed to advise of the CCTV recording, in accordance with legislation.
âIn order to put CCTV in place and use the footage as part of evidence gathering, we must have visible signage in place,â said Cllr Jones.
âHaving spoken to residents in this area, I can see what effect this fly-tipping is having on the community. Itâs not only a nuisance to neighbours, but it is also becoming an environmental health issue. Needless to say, it is also using council resources which could be better spent elsewhere.â
