Scarlets fullback Jordan Williams makes a return to regional action this weekend for the first time since March having undergone shoulder surgery.

The 22-year-old fullback, who developed through the ranks at the Scarlets since making his regional debut for the under 16s side, will travel to Italy this weekend as the region hope to secure an historic victory in the PRO12.

A victory over Zebre Rugby on Sunday afternoon, kick-off 1pm UK time, will ensure a 7th consecutive PRO12 win for the Scarlets – their best ever run in the competition.

Williams makes a return to the starting XV and is hoping to lay down a marker with fellow fullback Liam Williams on international duty and Steff Evans absent due to a dislocated elbow.

Speaking earlier this week Williams said: “It’s nice to be back. It’s been a tough summer and probably the toughest pre-season I’ve had.”

Williams has featured for Llanelli RFC in the Principality Premiership and says he’s glad to be back in action after surgery on his shoulder. “It’s been strange with the new points scoring system and the games were quite fast, but it’s just nice to be back playing.

“The shoulder is feeling good, I want to try and play as much as I can. I have a chance on the weekend to put my name down for the shirt with Sanj away for a few more weeks and Steff having a little break.”

Looking ahead to Sunday’s clash against Zebre, with the Scarlets hoping to make it three wins from three, Williams went on to say: “It’s obviously a big challenge on the weekend. We’ve gone two from two and we can hopefully go there and get the win. We want to stay in the top four during the World Cup for when the internationals come back.

“This is going to be the biggest game so far for us. We want to go three from three and stay top of the table. Last year we didn’t win many away games, we have to keep the challenge going and win in Zebre.”

Scarlets will return to the Parc on Friday 16th October to take on Leinster in the first of three home Friday evening fixtures.
