Graigfelen Hall in Clydach was saved from immediate closure when Swansea Council stepped in after the organisation which ran it went into administration in September, 2013.

The hall, which is in the heart of the village, is home to numerous local groups and organisations which use it every day including  the local Communities First team who delivers some of its projects from the hall. .

David Hopkins, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said: “Swansea Council gave a commitment to continue to support the centre after Cwmni Clydach Development Trust (CCDT) went into administration almost 18 months ago.

“It was a worrying time for residents and thriving local organisations and we said we’d work with them to secure its long-term future. I’m pleased to say Clydach Community Council has agreed to step up and take over the running of the hall in future.”

As part of the deal which is due to be seen by Cabinet on March 17 Swansea Council, which owns the freehold, would lease the building to the community council on a peppercorn rent for 99 years. The community council would then take over management and operational control, including running and maintenance costs.
