I saw The Martian yesterday, I didn’t really know what to expect.
Yes it stars Matt Damon. Yes it’s about Mars.
Yet as I sat there sucking my coke through my straw I viewed a tale of what I can only describe as a cross between the films Gravity and Castaway, as this character (portrayed by someone who the majority of the time is mistaken for Mark Walberg) lived to tell the tale of how he survived for over a year on the desolate planet Mars and how it changed his life forever.
Matt Damon gave what I believe was the performance of a lifetime.
Some might argue it was Good Will Hunting, but I mean how can you describe what emotions and experiences you live through in that kind of situation on a lifeless planet. Matt Damon’s portrayal relied heavily on the skills of botany as well as everything that’s actually used in today’s NASA program.
This movie really felt as if it was based on a true story rather than the work of Science Fiction. Well that’s how I felt anyway! I give it five stars. This is an absolute must see for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet and I strongly recommend that you do
