Young people across Carmarthenshire are being urged to stand up to bullying.
This year’s annual youth conference is taking place on Wednesday, November 18, from 9.30am to 2.30pm at Parc y Scarlets.
The conference name is Stand Up To Bullying and coincides with national anti-bullying week taking place from November 16 – 20.
Carmarthenshire Youth Council is organising the event and inviting all young people aged between 11 and 25 to go along.
Following feedback from last year’s event, the Youth Council has developed the workshops so that they use different methods to engage with young people, including drama, arts and discussion.
Young people from schools, colleges and community projects will have the opportunity to discuss issues and share their views and experiences of bullying with professionals and decision makers.
There will be a number of different organisations at the conference with information stalls relevant to bullying, that will provide information, freebies, and advice on any queries.
Conference planner Emily Parker aged 17, from Glanamman, and a Coleg Sir Gar student, said: “We are excited to have the theme of bullying this year as it is one of the biggest problems facing young people today, and it is one of our priorities as a youth council.
“We hope the conference is a big hit and is a place where young people can go to express their views and opinions on bullying or their experiences.
“We hope that the young people leave the conferences with a better understanding that bullying is wrong.”
The conference is free but limited spaces are available, for more information or to book a place visit www.youthsirgar.org.uk/conference or contact Carmarthenshire County Council youth worker Sarah Powell on 01267 246435 email SJPowell@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
