Scarlets’ Guinness PRO12 clash against Munster on Friday is gearing up to be a monumental occasion as the teams in second and first place, respectively, go head to head at Parc y Scarlets.

Both teams are unbeaten in the opening four rounds of the PRO12 with Munster securing a try bonus over Cardiff Blues last weekend to pip the Scarlets to the top spot.

Speaking earlier this week Scarlets outside half and fullback Aled Thomas said that the returning internationals will add to the region’s strength in depth. He said: “We’ve proved that we have some strength in depth in the squad and hopefully we’ve showed that over the last few weeks. Having the boys back will add to that and hopefully we can push on.

“One of our main targets was to be in the top four by the time the World Cup finished, at the moment we’re doing that. It’s important to get points on the board when we can.”

With four victories from the opening four rounds Scarlets have secured their best ever run in the competition and will look to continue with their home form on Friday evening.

Thomas continued: “There’s a really positive feeling here at the moment, very upbeat and we’re looking forward to the games ahead now.

“We’ve been doing the basics pretty well, competing for each other and helping each other out. We’re working hard defensively and the attack has been going well as too.

“Leinster was tough but it was good to get a win. Munster got a big win on the weekend aswell. We’re looking forward to it this weekend – hopefully we’ll get a good crowd here.

“There are exciting times and hopefully we can continue with this form.”
