Scarlets flanker James Davies has a prolific workload around the park and was rewarded for his efforts last Friday evening as he picked up yet another Man of the Match award.
Since coming on as a second half replacement in Scarlets’ 20 all draw against Edinburgh at Murrayfield in September 2014 Davies hasn’t looked back; he’s gone on to make 33 appearances, has scored 7 tries, won numerous man of the match awards and is known for making a nuisance of himself at the breakdown!

Scarlets are five wins from the five opening rounds of the Guinness PRO12 campaign and Davies says that the squad’s mindset is responsible for the region’s recent run of success. He said: “We’re happy with the results so far. We’re another year together, the boys are more experienced and making sure we come out with results.
“I don’t think there’s one thing in particular. The attitude has been fantastic in defence and this has been a massive factor in us getting the results.”
Speaking ahead of this Friday’s Guinness PRO12 clash against Newport Gwent Dragons at Parc y Scarlets, and the first Welsh derby of the season, Davies said: “You could say we’re favourites but it’s a derby at the end of the day.
“They’ve got quality players coming back in like we have. We’re unfortunate that we’ve picked up injuries to two of our best players in Scott (Williams) and Sanj (Liam Williams).
We have to keep going with squad we’ve got, which is still very good.
“They’re going to be a tough challenge for us this Friday, we’ll have to prepare well and put a performance in. It’ll come down to what happens on the night, hopefully we’ll get the win.”
