Star Wars fans in Swansea won’t have to wait till Christmas to see the return of some of the movie’s most iconic characters.

Pick a Mix Entertainment is bringing Star Wars walkabout characters including Darth Vader, Stormtroopers and R2-D2 to Swansea’s Biggest Fireworks Display at St Helen’s on Thursday November 5.

They’re among the entertainment that’s been lined-up by Swansea Council for the event ahead of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18.

The council has also teamed up with its official radio partners for the event, The Wave and Swansea Sound, to organise live music from former Westlife singer Shane Filan and X Factor finalist Jahméne Douglas. They’ll be supported by Joey Devries from X Factor’s Overload Generation.

Steve Barnes, Senior Programmer for The Wave and Swansea Sound, said: “We’re extremely proud to be working with Swansea Council on this great event and to be bringing these top artists to Swansea.”

Other entertainment will include glo juggling and circus skills such as plate spinning and diabolos. Mark Jermin Productions will also be performing part of their latest panto on stage.

The gates for the event open at 5.30pm, with entertainment starting from 6pm and the fireworks, based on a theme of space and time, starting from 7.30pm. Free circus skills activities for children will be available from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “The Pick a Mix Entertainment Star Wars walkabout characters are especially timely because of the release of the much-anticipated new movie at the end of the year. They will combine with the stunning fireworks display and the other entertainment that’s been organised to deliver one of the best events St Helen’s has seen in recent years.”
