A father and son building team from Pembrokeshire have beaten stiff opposition from across Wales to win a major award.

Nick Fountain and son Robert of Blaenffos were recognised for the quality of their service at the Local Authority Building Control Cymru Awards in Cardiff.

They won the category for the best local builder / craftsman for their work as specialist stone masons.

Judges said it was reward for their personal, friendly and professional service and their very high standards of workmanship with a variety of materials to achieve their client’s requirements.

At the same ceremony, Bethal Construction Ltd of Swansea won for the best home extension and material alteration for their project at Pwll Farm, Newport, Pembrokeshire.

They were recognised for the high standard of finishes in the completed project and their approach to dealing with a number of complex issues during the construction.

Both the Fountains and Bethal Construction will now represent Wales at the national awards in London in November.
