It was a sixth consecutive victory for the Scarlets, in the 2015-16 Guinness PRO12 campaign, at the Parc on Friday night as the West Wales region to the spoils in the first Welsh derby of the season.
Scarlets secured a 25-15 victory over fellow Welsh region Newport Gwent Dragons with prop Phil John and flanker James Davies both scoring a brace of tries to help secure an all-important bonus point victory.
Head Coach Wayne Pivac, who has this week signed a new contract that keeps him at the region until the end of 2017-18, is happy with his side’s progress so far but believes Friday’s clash on the road against Leinster will be the toughest yet.
“We’re six from six and we have to be happy but we’re back on the road this week. It’s going to be a massive challenge for us.
“They gave a hiding out there last year. We have to re-group and we’re up for that challenge. It’s undoubtedly the biggest test of the season to date.”
Reflecting on his side’s victory over the Dragons Pivac went on to say: “I’m happy with a lot of the aspects of the game, first half I thought we controlled territory and possession.
“When you let a team in and you miss a couple of kicks it leaves the door open a bit. It was a goal of ours today to try and get the bonus point and we’re happy to have achieved that.
“We want to be top Welsh side and if we can get top four that’s going to be fantastic.”
Scarlets return to the Parc on Saturday 21st November for the European Rugby Champions Cup clash against Racing 92.
