Following the opening of the new multi-storey car park in Neath, new traffic orders will be implemented in the town’s pedestrianised area.

The current Traffic Order in the pedestrian area of Neath town centre operates from Monday to Saturday.

The new Pedestrian Zone Order will be seven days a week from 8am to 5pm and will become operational from Monday 23rd November 2015.

This follows concerns that unauthorised entry and parking could lead to conflict between pedestrians and motorists with potentially serious consequences.

The new orders will make the pedestrianised area safer whilst supporting the night time economy in this part of Neath’s town centre.

Vehicles displaying a valid Disabled Badge or a Trader’s Permit and drivers seen to be loading and unloading between the hours of 8am and 10.30am would be exempt.

This, combined with the reduced parking charges, the designation of Milland Road car park as short stay to support businesses in the southern part of the town centre and extended free Christmas parking will enhance the shopping experience and night time economy in the town.
