Construction firm sponsors Christmas trees for Port Talbot and Neath

One of the region’s leading construction companies, Bouygues UK, has teamed up with its subcontractors to sponsor a Christmas tree for each town.

Bouygues UK delivers award-winning construction, development and regeneration projects across the public and private sectors and is currently building Ysgol Bae Baglan, the new 3-16 school at Seaway Parade, Sandfields, which is due to open in September 2016.

Ysgol Bae Baglan is one of a number of projects in Neath Port Talbot Council’s Strategic School Improvement Programme and with an overall investment figure of £40m it is the biggest single investment in school infrastructure in the history of Neath Port Talbot.

It paves the way for an exciting and transformational approach to delivering education services with primary phase and secondary phase education being integrated in an ‘all though’ approach.

The Council has a strong and collaborative relationship with its contractors and works to make sure local companies and communities benefit from the regeneration and investment projects in the county borough.

Councillor Ali Thomas OBE, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council said: “I am delighted that Bouygues UK and their subcontractors are sponsoring the Christmas trees in Neath and Port Talbot.”

“It demonstrates the good working relationships we are keen to build with companies such as Bouygues UK to benefit our local communities and businesses.”

The sponsorship is a welcome addition to the efforts to light up our towns over the Christmas period.

In Port Talbot, the efforts to provide festive lighting are led by Aberavon RFC.

Andrew John, Managing Director of Aberavon RFC said: “We are delighted to assist with co-ordinating the provision of Christmas lights once again this year for both Station Road and Forge Road. It’s an important part of bringing Christmas to our town so we are pleased to help.”

“As a local club, we are very community focused and we hope that people will flock to the town on the 27th November to experience the Christmas light switch-on.”

In Neath, Christmas lights this year will be funded by Neath Town Council to ensure the town is lit up for the festive season.

Neath Town Council leader Sheila Penry added: “Neath Town Council are delighted to be able to fund the Christmas Lights for Neath this year. With the additional support provided by Bouygues UK, we will be able to illuminate more areas in the town centre. We are hopeful that the extension to the period of when the lights are installed will encourage visitors into the town during late November and December festive period.”
