Seasonal festivities took place at Stackpole VC School last week as pupils celebrated Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights.

The Diwali celebrations were spread over two half day sessions, and were delivered by Mrs Linda Carr and Mrs Meegan Hughes together with the staff. The children took part in a wide variety of exciting, educational and very colourful activities.

The classroom was transformed, ablaze with colour and incredible Indian decorations and then the celebrations started, with dancing, cookery, dressing up, art and craft activities and more!

Stackpole VC School Base Leader, Mrs Sandra Bryant commented on the success of the event:

“What an amazing learning experience for our pupils. Stackpole VC School has celebrated Diwali many times in the past and it was wonderful to welcome Mrs Carr back to the school.

“It was delightful to witness the children’s enthusiasm as they gained an understanding of a different culture. Indeed, the pupils were so inspired by the celebrations and activities that took place, that we have decided to continue our Diwali theme with a “Festival of Lights” night at our popular After School Club next week.

“On behalf of the pupils of Stackpole VC School, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Carr & Mrs Hughes for delivering such colourful, educational and exciting experiences to our pupils!”
