The Club has been running for several years, but in 2014/2015 there was a considerable decrease in the number of attendees, and following discussions with its members, about how to increase attendees, it was suggested the Club should be relocated to Ysgol Bro Pedr.
The Youth Club relocated in September 2014, and since then membership has increased significantly, with a new Youth Cooking Club set to start in the near future due to popular demand!
Cabinet member for Learning Services, Children and Young People’s Partnership, Councillor Hag Harris, said: “Lampeter Youth Club is a great resource for young people in the area, and is a great way for youngsters to socialise and take part in activities that they might not otherwise get a chance to do. It’s great to see it becoming ever more popular and long may it continue.”
Due to the high demand, by the young people themselves, Lampeter Youth Club has developed into a physical activity club for those wishing to develop a range of new skills. The Club offers a high-quality service and is an opportunity for young people to make new friends, develop group work skills and increase their physical fitness.
The Youth Club is run in Ysgol Bro Pedr every Tuesday night from 3.30-4.30pm and is open for young people from the local area aged between 11-18 years. It is run by Ceredigion County Council Youth Service, by enthusiastic, fully qualified and professionally qualified youth workers.
