A fitness instructor atĀ Ammanford Leisure CentreĀ is the new face of Miss Carmarthenshire Galaxy.

Leah Beynon, beat off stiff competition in the county to secure a place in the Miss Galaxy Wales 2016 finals.

This is the first time the 21-year-old has entered a beauty pageant and she hopes to represent Wales for the world title to be held in America next summer.

Until then Leah plans to use her title to help raise money for Christie Cancer and local charities close to her heart such as cancer Macmillan and LATCH.

The former Ammanford Comprehensive School pupil, who also works at the centreā€™s reception and Actif Club, said: ā€œIā€™m so excited to have made it to the final and want to raise as much money as possible for the charities. As this is my first pageant I donā€™t know what to expect but Iā€™m sure it will be fantastic.ā€

Leah is no stranger to the catwalk and has been involved in modelling for five years. Ā Rubbing shoulders with Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan, aka Rosie Webster, in a photo shoot is amongst her most memorable moments.

The councilā€™s executive board member, Cllr Meryl Gravell said: ā€œCongratulations to Leah and we wish her the very best of luck at the Welsh finals.ā€
