Vandals have caused damage to Trimsaran changing rooms estimated to run into thousands of pounds.
Bricks and stones have been thrown on to the roof causing major external damage and leading to the ceiling inside to collapse.
Grounds maintenance officers have inspected the building and are now looking into the cost of repair; but believe it will run into thousands.
They describe the damage as “extensive”.
Local Member for Trimsaran and Executive Board Member Cllr Meryl Gravell said she was angry and very disappointed.
“The changing rooms cannot be used in their current state and we don’t yet know how much it will cost to repair them or if we are able to repair them at all,” she said.
“I am absolutely appalled by this anti-social behaviour and what is worse is that the whole community will now suffer because of the actions of a mindless few.”
The changing rooms are located in the park. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the council on 01267 234567 or email direct@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
Executive Board Member for the Environment Cllr Hazel Evans added: “I don’t know why anyone would get any satisfaction from causing this type of damage; and with budgets being reduced year on year, we simply cannot afford this.
“I hope those responsible are caught and they are made to pay for their actions.”
