A woman has been fined for littering at the recycling site in Burry Port.
She was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75 by environmental enforcement officers after leaving a cardboard box on the ground next to the recycling banks.
Failure to pay could lead to court prosecution where the maximum fine is £2,500.
Only glass, cans, paper, textiles and DVDs/CDs/books can be taken to the recycling site in Seaview Terrace, Burry Port; there is no recycling bank for cardboard.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “The recycling sites are important facilities for the local community but all kinds of rubbish are being left at some. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated and anyone caught will be fined.”
Officers will continue to carry out patrols and use CCTV cameras to monitor sites across the county.
