A planning meeting to discuss the planning application for the proposed new Gorseinon Primary School will take place on Tuesday, December 8, at 2pm at Guildhall Council Chamber.

Representatives of those for and against the proposals will be able to address the committee before the discussion but Swansea Council is reminding everyone they must follow the Council’s speaking rights protocol which can be found at the bottom of the page at: http://tinyurl.com/pk2nt3v

A notice is being put up at various locations in Gorseinon to help keep the community informed too.

The planning application is for the construction of a new Primary School on a section of Parc Y Werin, including car park, multi-use games area (MUGA), all weather pitch and associated hard and soft landscaping works as well as the relocation of the existing playground onto adjacent land.

If approved the planning application could see Gorseinon Primary School united on one site for the first time in its history.

If the proposals gain backing from planning councillors pupils could move from three outdated buildings – two more than 100 years old – into state-of-the-art facilities by spring, 2017.

Details of the planning application can be found at: http://www.swansea.gov.uk/planningsearch  and entering the application reference number: 2015/2074.
