Ceredigion Flushed with Success

​Ceredigion residents can once again take pride in the brilliant hygiene standards in the county’s public conveniences, as the County Council’s award winning cleaning team claimed victory in several categories during the recent prestigious Loo of the Year Awards 2015.

​The Council has been entering this competition since 1996 and has been very successful again this year.

In total, Ceredigion won 22 Platinum Awards and 8 Gold Awards for its individual premises which is an excellent improvement on last year’s haul of awards.

The Council came first in many National Award categories across Wales:

  1. In House Cleaning Team Entryn House Cleaning Team Entry
  2. Local Authority Entries
  3. Eco Friendly Toilets
  4. Changing Places Toilet Entries
  5. Toilets in Education

The Council also won several UK Trophies, including:

  1. Public Toilet Entries
  2. Hygiene Room Entries
  3. Education sector
  4. Healthcare sector

Ultimately, Ceredigion benefits from having the best quality public conveniences in the UK.

The Council’s cleaning team were judged to be the best of their type in Wales in 14 national categories, including Leisure Centres, Theatres, Parks and Gardens, Early Schools/Nurseries, Primary School, Day Centres, Offices, Beach Side, Libraries, Special Schools, Car Parks, Unattended Toilets and Attended Toilets.

The Champions League Standards of Excellence Award and also Premiere League Standards of Excellence Award were both once again presented to the team, in recognition of their outstanding work in the field.

Jasmine Wilson, Cleaning Services Manager for Ceredigion said: “It is gratifying to note that our work & standards are recognised to be the best in the UK across so many categories, and that local communities, school pupils, staff & visitors are able to avail themselves of an excellent service that will enhance their comfort during their travels, school or working day, or when they visit various public buildings within Ceredigion.”

Councillor Alun Williams, Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Carbon Management said: “Once again, Ceredigion’s cleaning services team has been acknowledged for maintaining a very high standard of cleanliness in the county’s public conveniences. Bearing in mind the harsh central government funding cuts that have been imposed on us, it is especially remarkable and commendable that this standard has been maintained so well. I want to extend my warmest congratulations to every staff member who has contributed to the team’s success.”
