Two people have been fined for dropping litter in Ammanford and Carmarthen.
Council environmental enforcement officers carry out patrols across the county and anyone caught dropping litter is fined.
Officers were on patrol near the Riverside Walk area of Ammanford when they saw a man throwing a tissue into the undergrowth adjacent to the river. He was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75.
A man has also been issued with a fixed penalty notice for dropping a cigarette end in King Street, Carmarthen.
Officers were patrolling the area following complaints that people were smoking in the street and discarding their cigarette butts on the ground.
If they fail to pay the fixed penalty notices, they can be prosecuted in court where the maximum fine for littering is £2,500.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “It is important we keep Carmarthenshire clean for both our residents and visitors. We have a zero tolerance approach to people dropping litter; there are no excuses, if there isn’t a bin nearby, wait until you find one or take it home with you.”
