Ceredigion Museum is holding its annual free Christmas Concert on Friday 18 December at 7pm.

The concert will feature music from Aberystwyth Silver Band, the Showtime Singers and members of the Youth Ensemble, from Christmas carols to well-known musical renditions, the Museum will offer a traditional festive night for the whole family.

Andrea De Rome, Collections Care Officer at Ceredigion Museum said: “There will be a night of singing and merry making at the museum, with traditional food and drink available too for visitors. It’s a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of the high street and enjoy a more relaxed festive experience with the whole family.”

The Museum is also offering a chance to see Christmas related objects like a beautiful wooden Wassail bowl, as Andrea De Rome explains. “This communal cup was filled with warm spiced punch during cold winter nights in the 19th Century, and was shared amongst friends and family. In some places it was traditional to take a drink out of the big bowl on the twelfth night of Christmas.”

Father Christmas will also be popping in to the museum on Saturday 19 December from 11am – 1pm, with children able to meet him at a cost of £3.50, and there will also be a chance for parents to do some last minute shopping in the Museum’s gift shop.

Ceredigion Museum is open until Christmas Eve. For more information please call 01970 633 088 or visit www.ceredigion.gov.uk
