A woman who left her blue bags on the ground next to the glass recycling banks in Drefach-Felindre has been fined £75.
She said she put the wrong colour bags out for collection and when they weren’t collected she took them there instead.
As a result, she was issued with a fixed penalty notice. Failure to pay could lead to court prosecution where the maximum fine is £2,500.
The council’s environmental enforcement unit has received a lot of complaints about people leaving waste at the site.
Now residents are being reminded that the site is for glass recycling only. Glass bottles and jars, cardboard boxes and carrier bags must not be left on the ground.
If residents miss their collection or put the wrong colour bags out they should take them back in until their next collection or alternatively taken them to the recycling centre at Nantycaws, Carmarthen.
Anything found dumped on the ground will be treated as littering or fly-tipping.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “We will not tolerate this type of behaviour. These sites are important facilities for the local community but all kinds of rubbish are being left. Anyone caught will be fined.”
