As Christmas fast approaches, Communities and Tackling Poverty Minister, Lesley Griffiths, has encouraged people to visit their local high street to do their shopping.
The Minister said our high streets have much to offer, especially during the festive period, providing seasonal produce and present ideas within easy reach, a friendly smile and a real sense of community.
The Welsh Government’s ‘Support Your High Street’ campaign recognises the valuable contribution busy high streets make to the Welsh economy, as well as the vital role they play in community life.
Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty, Lesley Griffiths, said:
“In Wales we have interesting and diverse high streets close to home with vibrant local shops and businesses. Our high streets are key to the success of our local economies and offer people a unique experience at the heart of their communities.
“Christmas is an extremely busy time of year for many of us, making online shopping an attractive option. However, our high streets are much more than just a place where we can get our shopping done – they offer us local produce, a friendly smile and a real sense of community.
“This is why I am encouraging people to support the wonderful and often eclectic mix of shops and services available the length and breadth of Wales this Christmas.”
