A new footbridge has been built over the River Aeron allowing walkers to enjoy a popular local footpath once again, after being closed due to safety reasons since the end of September.
Following the construction of the new footbridge by Ceredigion County Council in December, walkers will now be able to enjoy the footpath again near Llyswen in Aberaeron which leads to the bridge (see map).
This footpath also links to the cycle track leading from Aberaeron to Llanerchaeron, which forms part of the popular Aberaeron to Lampeter long distance trail and shorter circular walks around Aberaeron itself.
Ceredigion County Council Cabinet Member for Economic and Community Development Service, Councillor Gareth Lloyd, said: “It’s great to see this popular route back open, and we hope it will continue to be well used by walkers.”
He adds: “I would like to thank Ceredigion County Council’s Highways Department who have been responsible for all of the works on the ground and their impeccable timing in having this done in time for the Christmas period, which is always a popular time of year for walking.”
