12 January 2016: Celtic Camping in Pembrokeshire, south Wales has been named by Pitchup.com as its top-selling site for south Wales for 2015.

The figures, compiled from Pitchup.com’s bookings for 1,605 camping and caravan sites throughout Europe, show Celtic Camping led the way for visitors to south Wales in 2015, bringing an impressive 252 bookings to the region, 563% more than last year and 2% ahead of its nearest regional competitor.

Early bookings suggest Celtic Camping is set to maintain its momentum this year.

Dan Yates, founder of outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com, commented: “South Wales attracted 1.2m searches in 2015 and is a popular destination for our client base. The spectacular scenery and wide range of outdoor pursuits available in the area makes it hugely appealing to camping and caravanning enthusiasts.  Celtic Camping is ideally positioned for all of this and the site’s location on a working National Trust farm makes it truly unique. We believe that this, combined with its relaxed free camping approach and excellent facilities, has won the site the top spot.”

Celtic Camping offers a range of electric and non-electric pitches in its vast camping field and as part of the site’s free camping ethos, guests can simply pitch up where they wish.  There are excellent onsite facilities including an indoor dining barn and clean toilet and shower blocks. The site is located on a 250-acre National Trust farm called Pwll Caerog, part of which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.  It boasts spectacular views over the Irish Sea and the nearest beach, the pebbly cove of Aber Pwll,  is a five-minute walk away.  St Davids is just four miles north of the site and Abereiddy Bay, a popular spot for cliff diving, is nearby.  Ideal for walkers, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is just 500 metres from the camping field, with trails leading from Abereiddy to the village of Porthgain in one direction and to Whitesands Bay via St David’s Head in the other direction.

Commenting on their success, Ian Griffiths, owner of Celtic Camping, said: “We’re delighted to be Pitchup.com’s best selling campsite in south Wales.  We find the site easy to use and a great platform for reaching a wide audience of camping and outdoor enthusiasts. We hope to continue our success and look forward to welcoming more of Pitchup.com’s customers in 2016.”
