The Belstaff Autumn/Winter ’16 collection is based upon cold adventure riding and the pursuit of freedom, illustrating a journey that takes you through tough terrains, snowy mountains and icy glaciers in comfort and style.
The collection has been designed to meet the demands of protection, mobility and adaptability, merging the heritage of Belstaff classics with innovative new materials, constructions and functionalities to ensure unprecedented warmth and comfort.
“We were inspired by the pioneers of endurance riding who threaded their bikes through some of the most inhospitable conditions for the sheer challenge of the journey,“ explains VP of Men’s Design, Frederik Dyhr.
“The concept of adaptability in our Autumn 16 collection couldn‘t be more relevant given the unusually mild weather we‘re experiencing,“ explains Belstaff CEO Gavin Haig. “Our multiple membranes and linings mean that Belstaff outerwear easily adjusts to temperatures and layers can be peeled off. That said, meteorologists expect the cold to return this time next year: the Winter 16 collection will ensure you are prepared.”
Belstaff took over the dilapidated Victorian red-brick arches of Southwark’s Ewer Street to set the scene for this cold adventure.
Belstaff took the occasion to announce that Sir Ranulph Fiennes – legendary polar pioneer and arguably “the world’s greatest living explorer” (Guinness Book of Records) – will star in its latest menswear campaign ‘Worship the Ground’ shot by Rankin, launching 25th January 2016.
Levison Wood, contemporary adventurer and Belstaff ambassador, attended as special guest having just returned from his latest challenge of walking the length of the Himalayas. The expedition is currently being aired on TV’s Channel 4 and its book was published this week.
Furthermore, Belstaff was chosen as sole partner to celebrate the new ‘Zoolander 2’ film (premiering 4th Feb, release 14th Feb) during London Collections: Men, with the creation of a special cocktail conjuring up both the cold and Zoolander’s classic pose: Blue Steel.
For the first time Belstaff is offering an advance pre-order service on select new collection pieces.
