A free fun and fitness event is being held at Penlan Leisure Centre next week for people of all ages and abilities.

The Swansea Council event, taking place on Monday 18 January, lasts from 3.30pm to 8.30pm.

There will be a range of free taster classes and activities, nutritional advice and health checks. Activities for children include gymnastics, rugby and Waterwalkerz in the pool.

Anyone who becomes an Active Swansea member on the night will receive free membership for the rest of the month.

Cllr Mark Child, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Healthy City and Wellbeing, said: “This is a time of year when many people start thinking about joining a gym, losing weight or toning up in readiness for the summer.

“The free event that’s being planned at Penlan Leisure Centre will show everything that people can do both there and at other Active Swansea leisure centres across the city.

“The activities at our leisure centres aren’t just fun – they also allow members to meet new people, get fitter and boost their health and wellbeing.

“For some people, the free event will offer a great opportunity to try activities they’ve never had a go at before.”

Free health checks at the event include blood pressure, BMI and peak flow checks. People who go along can try as many activities for free as they like.

Spaces are limited for some activities and classes, so please call Penlan Leisure Centre on 01792 588079 to book your place. Gym inductions will also be free on the evening, but likely demand means it’s best to book in advance.
