More than 2,600 Swansea parents are being urged to get online to secure a primary school place for their child.
Swansea Council has once again made it possible for parents to log on to a website and complete an application for the school of their choice from reception class onwards.
Letters have been sent to all Swansea parents of children attending nursery at a Swansea primary school and there’s help available on the Council website too.
Cllr Jen Raynor, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said: “I hope parents will get online to take advantage of this system which aims to make applying for a primary school place fairer and more efficient.
“Last year more than 2,700 applications were received for reception places for the school year starting in September 2015 and 98% of parents who applied online, on time, secured a place for their child in their first choice school.
“Most found it easier than they thought it would be and I would urge families who need to secure places this year to give it a try at home or through free computer access in their local library.”
Parents of children born between September 1, 2011, and August 31, 2012, who have got access to the web can log on to www.swansea.gov.uk/admissions and follow the instructions.
Parents must apply for a place even if their children are currently in the nursery class at the school of their choice.
Those without computer access at home can access computer services at their local library or primary school. Anyone needing additional support can contact their local primary school in the first instance.
The deadline for applications is March 4, 2016.
Parents will be notified of where their child has been offered a place on April 22, 2016.
