Parents and professionals interested in how Swansea children can be supported to exercise their right to play given are being invited to a special event to share their views.
Whether it’s the quality and location of playgrounds, access to informal open spaces, the impact of transport and traffic, or the financial barriers to play the Council wants to know what people think about any play in our city.
The Swansea Play Sufficiency Consultation Event will take place on Monday, January 25, from 9.30am to 12.30pm at the Civic Centre.
Called ‘Are We Meeting Children’s Play Needs in Swansea?’ the event is aimed at all those with an involvement in, or a passion for, play opportunities within the Swansea area from community groups to planners.
Parents and carers also being invited to feed in their views on play in Swansea.
Cllr Christine Richards, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Services for Children and Young People, said: “As a city which has signed up to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child we want to ensure youngsters are supported to exercise their right to play but this is not something we can do alone.
“I hope that people will join this event and help us to assess play sufficiency and consider ways forward.”
