Newcastle Emlyn Leisure Centre kicked off its 25th birthday celebrations by giving away free sessions.

Some 40 sessions were arranged throughout the week-long event held earlier this month.

Over 25 different activities were delivered every day between 10am and 9pm ranging from 30-60 minutes long.

The classes included kung fu, table tennis, squash, circuits, badminton, archery, soccer and netball tots, hockey, toddlebikes, karate, abs blast, street dance, aerobics, basketball and many more.

Birthday celebrations closed with a squash exhibition match and archery.

Newcastle Emlyn Leisure Centre opened its doors in 1991. Over 14,500 customers used the centre last year

The council’s executive board member for leisure, Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “What better way was there to celebrate the centre’s 25th birthday than giving something back to the community. There was a huge choice of activities going on throughout the week and it provided a perfect opportunity for people to try something they may not have before.”
