âThe training, which is being offered by Ceredigion County Council, covers a wide range of topics including how to deal with people with impaired vision and / or hearing, how to assist those with mobility restrictions, and use and security of wheelchairs and wheelchair users in licensed vehicles.
Councillor Rhodri Evans, Cabinet Member for Lifestyle Services, said: âThis training is a great opportunity for licensed drivers to learn more about people with mobility issues or impairments. Increased awareness of their passengersâ needs can only enhance the service that these drivers can offer their customers.â
This training comes following the Councilâs decision to adopt a raft of âaccessibility conditionsâ, intended to provide an equal level of service and access to service for all of the countyâs residents. Licensed drivers who participate in the training will learn more about how to offer a more accessible service to customers who may have impairments or mobility issues.
Several licensed drivers have already attended a training session, with the next available session scheduled to be held in March.
