The Queen Victoria Club in Llanelli reverberated with excitement and unapologetically loud fans as Llanelli Music Scene’s Music night got underway. Light’s glowed and pints flowed as the bands began their practice before delivering rip-roaring sets. This reporter however was feeling hung-over from the previous night so stuck to water. Both bands On The Day & Otherside that performed on the night proved more than capable of exciting the crowd and both received standing ovations when they were done.

Interview one: On The Day

Before the band who calls themselves On The Day went on stage, lead singer Stuart, drummer Jon & guitarists John & Rich sat down with this reporter for a quick chat.

WWC: Hey guys, looking forward to your set?

OTD: (Stuart) Yeah! A little nervous but excited.

WWC: Ah you’ll be fine, so does your band specialise in covers or originals?

OTD: (Rich) We’re doing mostly covers for the time being, we’re crafting some original songs but they’re not quite ready yet.

WWC: Fantastic, so what kind of covers do you guys specialise in?

OTD: (Rich) We do mostly pop rock/punk rock type of songs, with a couple of Justin Beiber songs in the mix too.

WWC: Cool, so how long have you guys been together?

OTD: (Jon) To be honest we’ve only been together for about eighteen months so we’re just building a local fanbase and then we’ll be looking to expand to Swansea and Cardiff.

On The Day went on to perform a rip roaring set which included covers of Sum 41, You Me At Six and the always great Stacey’s Mom by Fountain’s Of Wayne. This reporter concludes that this band has bright future and can truly be great On The Day.

Interview two: Otherside

Before local band Otherside geared up to deliver their swaggering, bouncy performance, Lead vocalist Lauren, Lead guitarist Calum, Rhythm guitarist Steve, Bassist Roy & Drummer Lee sat down to chop it up with this reporter.

WWC:  What’s up guys? So what kind of material will you be playing for us tonight?

OS: (Lauren) It’s predominantly covers that we’re doing right now, we love to get people dancing so we’re songs that gets the best reaction from crowds.

WWC: Super! So with that in mind, what song would you guys say gets the best reaction from the crowds you play to?

OS: (Steve) It depends on the crowd to be honest, for some crowds it could be Summer of ’69, or for other crowds it could be Guns ‘N’ Roses.

WWC: Cool, so are you guys based locally?

OS: Yes we’re from the Llanelli/Gower region.

WWC: Super, and where can people find you online?
