Plans for a three storey, four bedroom house on a steeply sloping infil site in Goodwick have been dashed.
A planning inspector has refused an appeal by Richard Gambold against a decision by Pembrokeshire County Council to refuse planning permission for the development.
The inspector, Melissa Hall, described the dwelling as of an “overtly contemporary design”, adding that it was of a considerable size and would have had a largely glazed three storey front elevation.
“Its overall scale and extensive site cover would result in a dominating and intrusive presence” she said. “I find the proposal to be incompatible with its surroundings and inappropriate to its context.”
In her findings, Ms Hall said that following the refusal of the planning application last August, Mr Gambold had informally submitted to the Authority further plans showing reduced areas of glazing and a lower building height.
She continued: “I am of the view that it would be prejudicial to consider the alternative scheme on the basis that it has not undergone any formal consultation and other parties have not been afforded the opportunity to comment on the same.
“I have therefore determined the appeal based on the submissions on which the Council made its decision.”
