A victory over Ulster at their Kingspan Stadium home last Sunday saw Scarlets move back into third place in the Guinness PRO12 table but with seven games still remaining in the regular season the competition is still very much wide open.

Scarlets take on Edinburgh at BT Murrayfield this Sunday afternoon  before returning home to Parc y Scarlets to face Benetton Treviso on Friday 4th March.

Speaking earlier this week about his side’s focus over the next few weeks head coach Wayne Pivac said: “There’s still seven games to go, you’d be foolish to write anyone off out of eight or nine teams.

“Edinburgh are fighting for everything which is why they’re such a dangerous opposition this week.

“It’s going to be a dogfight right to the end. We know that. We’re getting the boys mentally prepared for the long-haul.”

The victory over Ulster last weekend put the Scarlets back into third position, level on points with Leinster who are in second position.

Pivac went on to say: “We’re on track for where we think we need to be for top four. We have to keep performing. Everything is wide open from first to sixth. We could be out of the top six, we could finish in the top two.

“The boys learnt a lot about themselves on the weekend too. Both teams had a lot to play for and it was pleasing to get some confidence out of that.”

Scarlets are boosted by the return of openside flanker James Davies who has recovered from a foot injury that has kept him out of action since November.

Pivac continued: “We’re starting to get a few boys back from injury, the likes of George Earle and James Davies coming back and David Bulbring coming in gives us more options. The last two weeks have been pretty pleasing.

“Success breeds success and the confidence grows. We have two more games before the internationals are back; that will bolster the squad and give us the confidence to play what we’re accustomed to play – you saw bits of it on the weekend.”
