Carmarthen market joins in with town’s Welsh Week

There’s lots going on in Carmarthen Indoor market to celebrate our Patron Saint.
The market and its traders will be proudly donning their Welsh bunting and rugby shirts throughout the week-long Welsh-Week festival as part of the St David’s Day celebrations being held in the town from February 27-March 5.
On Wednesday (March 2) come along to the market for cookery demonstrations by Lisa Fearn of the Pumpkin Patch who will be showcasing some of the produce which is available to buy in the market.
The demonstrations will take place between 11.30am until 2pm in front of the iconic Clock Tower.
There will also be tasters and don’t forget to pick up your copy of Carmarthen Market’s Cawl recipe cards.
The Cawl Crawl will also be launched in the market – come along and find out more and buy your Cawl bowl ahead of the crawl on Saturday, March 5.
The indoor market has everything you need to celebrate St David’s Day – from traditional Welsh outfits for school children to other Welsh-themed accessories.
And by supporting your local traders you can also pick up good quality, local ingredients at affordable prices – from cheeses, breads, Welshcakes and barabrith to fresh vegetables and meats to make your own Cawl.
It’s also a great opportunity to get your Mother’s Day gifts and cards, accessories, make up and much more to treat your mams ahead of March 6.
There will also be free parking in the town on Saturday, February 27 and Saturday, March 5.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member responsible for the markets, Cllr David Jenkins, said: “Come along and see what the market has to offer and get some great recipe ideas using ingredients bought in the market. By doing so you will be supporting some great independent businesses.”
