A MAN and a woman have been fined £75 for failing to clean up after their dogs.

The first offence occurred on the riverside walk near the Tesco store. The second was along the Millennium Coastal Park in Burry Port.

Council environmental enforcement officers were on patrol in the area at the time of the incidents and issued fixed penalty notices.

Failure to pay could result in court prosecution where the maximum fine is £1,000.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “It is an offence not to clean up after your dog and anyone caught will be fined.

“Dog mess left anywhere can have serious health implications; it also makes an area look bad and it really is quite disgusting if you step in it.”

Officers carry out patrols across the county.
