Welsh ladies are winging round the world in time for St David’ Day.

The ceramic black hatted ornaments are being created at the rate of 50 a day from kilns at Carmarthenshire Council’s Cam Cyntaf Steps 2 scheme, which provides training opportunities for adults with leaning difficulties.

More than 20 service users have been involved on the Welsh Lady production line, with sales of £20,000 sales expected. All the proceeds ploughed back into Cam Cyntaf council service, based on the Cillefwr Industrial Estate off Alltynap Road.

The service offers various basic skill workshops such as woodwork, IT skills, pottery and art and crafts, as well as basic cooking and gardening skills.

Service acting lead Gill Jones said: “In the last week we have had a personal order shipped out to America and enquiries from gift shops in Llandeilo and Narberth.

“We have made shipments to New Zealand and Canada and every year we are making more and more.”
