Parents have just days to make the deadline for applications for primary school places in Swansea.
Around 400 Swansea parents still need to get on line to secure a reception class place for their child at a local primary school.
Swansea Council is urging parents to log on to their website and complete an application for the primary school of their choice in time for the deadline this Friday, March 4.
There’s information available on the Council website and anyone needing additional support should contact their local primary school in the first instance.
Around 2,600 children will be heading into reception class in September 2016. Parents must apply for a place even if their children are currently in the nursery class at the school of their choice.
Cllr Jen Raynor, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said: “The system aims to make applying for a place fairer and more efficient and more than 2,200 families have already gone on line to apply for a place.
“I would urge the other families who need to secure places this year not to delay and go online at home or through free computer access in their local library. If you have any issues at all please speak to your local primary school in the first instance.”
Last year 98% of parents who applied online, on time, secured a place for their child in their first choice school.
This year parents of children born between September 1, 2011, and August 31, 2012, who have got access to the web can log on to www.swansea.gov.uk/admissions to apply and follow the instructions.
Those without computer access at home can access computer services at their local library or primary school. Anyone needing additional support can contact their local primary school in the first instance.
The deadline for applications is March 4, 2016. Parents will be notified of where their child has been offered a place on April 22, 2016.
