Phillip Evans, (28) of Llanelli has taken up the challenge of cycling from London to Paris to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.
Phillip who hopes to raise over £1000 by taking part in London to Paris Bike Ride in June 2016 said:
‘I decided to take part in this challenge for Alzheimer’s Society because I wanted to raise money for a great charity of which is close to my family and friends as unfortunately members of my family have been affected by Alzheimer’s / Dementia. This cruel illness appears to be affecting more and more families each year and many friends have relatives / friends that have also been affected by Alzheimer’s / Dementia. It will be a tough challenge but it’s great to know that I will be raising funds to help support people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.’
Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive at Alzheimer’s Society, said:
‘We are delighted that Phillip is giving his time to support Alzheimer’s Society. 225,000 will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals like Phillip to help us continue our vital work. Please back Phillip in his fundraising efforts so that Alzheimer’s Society can continue leading the fight against dementia.’
I am aware that Phillip is also looking forward to again be taking part in an “Almost Strictly” Charity event in October 2016, where he will be teaching another non dancer to learn to dance for the very first time and compete for the “Almost Strictly” trophy, of which this year will be his third year being part of another great charity event.
