Hello Glampers!

A huge ‘glamping’ village – built to promote Pembrokeshire as a destination to visit this summer – was the centrepiece of a recent holiday show.

The County Council’s tourism team were invited to build the attraction by the organisers of the Caravan Camping and Motorhome Show at the end of February at the NEC Birmingham.

The size of two tennis courts, the village included three inter-connected yurts, a dragon design tipi, two classic VW camper vans, a Lotus Bell Tent, a Bubble Tent and a timber pod.

The exhibits were be set in different themed areas including a woodland scene, a beach themed scene and even a snow scene.

Keith Lewis, Deputy Leader of the Council said: “This was a great opportunity for us to showcase Pembrokeshire as a holiday destination and to promote the camping and caravanning sector”.

Alan Turner, the Council’s Tourism Marketing and Development Manager, said: “We’ve been working with a fantastic group of Pembrokeshire businesses who specialise in glamping holidays and in manufacturing yurts, tipi’s and log cabins. We could never have done this without their help and hard work.

“There are so many fantastic holiday options for camping and caravanning in Pembrokeshire and having this enormous feature space right next to the show entrance gives us the perfect opportunity to promote that sector and Pembrokeshire.”

“The show attracted 87,589 visitors and the reaction to the village was amazing. Everybody was saying it was the best stand in the entire show and the level of interest in visiting Pembrokeshire was very encouraging.”
