Lloyd Powell, Head of Partnerships at Cardiff Metropolitan University has been appointed as the new head of ACCA Cymru/ Wales. Lloyd, who replaces Ben Cottam, will take up the post in May.
A Welsh speaker, educated at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf, Cardiff, University of Birmingham, the Open University and Cardiff Metropolitan University, Lloyd brings more than 20 years’ experience in higher education and has been with his current employer for eight years.
Lloyd’s current role sees him take responsibility for establishing and managing partnerships both locally and internationally, including new business development, risk management and relationship management.
John Weston, Head of ACCA UK, said: “Lloyd was the stand out candidate through a rigorous process. We look forward to welcoming Lloyd to ACCA Cymru/Wales and as part of the wider UK & Western Europe team and to introducing him to the members, students and business contacts across Wales. Lloyd brings a wealth of experience from his role of Head of Partnerships at Cardiff Metropolitan University which will drive the future strategy for ACCA in Wales.”
Lloyd said: “I’m very excited about the new role – a new challenge, and am delighted to be joining at an exciting time for ACCA and for Wales. I look forward to building on the work of my predecessor Ben Cottam and to continuing to develop ACCA’s presence in Wales amongst members, students and other key stakeholders.”
Lloyd lives in Cardiff with his wife and three children.
