Ceredigion County Council is asking areas that have an interest in hosting the National Eisteddfod in 2020 in Ceredigion to get in touch before the end of March.

The Council has contacted the National Eisteddfod of Wales expressing the county’s wish for the National Eisteddfod to return to Ceredigion in 2020.

The requirements of the National Eisteddfod include the suitability of the area, connection with electricity, mobile phone and broadband coverage, water supply, sewage, about 140 acres of land that is needed for the different sites like parking and caravans as well as easy access.

Leader of Ceredigion County Council, Councillor Ellen ap Gwynn, said: “We have contacted Town and Community Councils highlighting the Eisteddfod’s requirements for the Maes (field). We have had some responses so far, but would welcome more before the deadline at the end of this month.”

The Council would like to know of any identified sites or interests in the area before Thursday 31 March 2016. The identified sites will be forwarded to the National Eisteddfod where a decision as to the identification of a suitable site in Ceredigion for the 2020 Eisteddfod will be taken by the National Eisteddfod Board.

Following the decision, a public meeting will be held for Ceredigion residents to elect Officers and a Working Committee to be responsible for leading on organising the event and fund raising.
